Am I Going to Heaven?

Which of the following do you think is necessary to get to Heaven?

  1. Keep God’s commandments.
  2. Feel sorry for your sins.
  3. Try to do your best.
  4. Stop sinning.
  5. Perform good deeds.
  6. Donate money to a church.
  7. Be water baptized.
  8. Trust in Jesus Christ alone as your personal Savior.

If you answered any numbers from one through seven, then you are trying to work for salvation. The Bible is clear that no human effort or work can achieve salvation.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:8–9

The reason that our works cannot save us is that we are all sinners, and we have earned death.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

The solution to our problem, then, is for God to do the work for us. God became human, lived a sinless life, and died in our place to free us from eternal death.

God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

The only thing God requires of you is to believe in Jesus Christ’s work to save you.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

The moment you believe in Jesus Christ alone, you will receive eternal life.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears My word and believes Him Who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

John 5:24

Right now you can place your trust in Jesus Christ. Why not settle your eternal destiny right here, right now by putting your confidence in Jesus Christ? You can be certain He will save you because Jesus has already proven His power over death through His resurrection.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.”

John 11:25

You can be confident that you are saved forever based on the testimony of the Bible.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 5:13
